Agriculture and Natural Resource Management

Kripa Social Welfare Society has been working among the farmers since many years by organising different facilitation meetings with them. Efforts have been taken to organise and motivate the farmers for profitable, sustainable and eco friendly agriculture practices. Farmers in the target area of Kripa are engaged in chemical, mono and cash crops. Traditional farming has almost disappeared from the area. Effort of Kripa has motivated some farmers to start partially traditional and organic farming. Of course Kripa does not claim that it has done a sizable job in this regard. Thousands of families have cultivated vegetable gardens for their needs. Kripa has formed 94 farmers groups bringing 1207 farmers together to work on natural resources and agriculture by community mobilisation, water conservation measures, land development, organic farming, promotion of kitchen garden & traditional farming by emphasising on food crops, vegetables, mixed crop etc. Kripa social welfare society has been providing training to the famers on different concepts like traditional farming, forest based resources & indigenous food, organic farming, kitchen garden, climate resilience agriculture, mixed cropping, tree plantation, agriculture related schemes from horticulture and agriculture department etc.  Kripa envisages that its efforts would help the small and marginalised farmers to effectively reduce poverty and hunger in rural areas and to boost economic growth and to ensure conservation of natural resources. By promoting tree plantation, organic, traditional and sustainable farming Kripa wants to ensure fresh water, clean air and healthy soil.
